Can Women Preach? - Week 1

What is preaching? At its core, preaching is proclaiming Jesus—and that call is not reserved for one gender. The Greek word kerusso means to herald, to proclaim boldly. Jesus said in Mark 16:15, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Romans 10:14 reminds us that people can’t believe without someone preaching. Preaching, then, is not a gender role—it’s a Gospel role.

In this opening message of the series, “Listen to Women Preach,” we confront a long-debated question: Can women preach? Scripture and history resoundingly say yes. From Deborah the judge and prophet, to Mary Magdalene—the first to proclaim Christ’s resurrection—God has consistently raised up women to speak His Word. Women like Huldah, Phoebe, Priscilla, and Junia didn’t just support the mission; they were central to it.

So, what is a woman? She is God’s original multitasker: made in His image, biologically designed to carry life, emotionally wired to nurture, intellectually gifted to lead, and spiritually empowered to preach.

To listen is more than to hear—it is to give weight, value, and honor (Luke 8:18).

Women: You are called.
Men: God isn’t asking you to move over, but to move with.
Church: Stop asking, “Can women preach?” and start asking, “What is God saying through her?”

As Acts 2:17-18 declares, in these last days, “your sons and daughters will prophesy.”
